MIDSOLE AND INSOLEThe polyurethane outsole block also wears the institutional colours with a two-tone design. The rear heel for crampon insertion has been set and glued into the midsole to ensure a more secure and stable grip. The mounting footbed is made of fibreglass with aluminium foil to ensure maximum rigidity, especially when used with crampons. The midsole features an exclusive technology, thanks to the Smart PU component, a polyurethane compound capable of reacting to changes in temperature: it hardens in the heel area in colder temperatures and softens in milder weather to facilitate cushioning when walking. LACING SYSTEMThe K4 GTX offers a new lacing system with maximum adjustment according to the intended use. The tongue features an overlap closure, with a single gusset to ensure total foot wrapping. In addition to this there are 3 levels of closure: a lace puller, which offers the possibility of tightening the laces and keeping the fit anatomically constant, an intermediate level with the lace closure and finally at the top, the Velcro and microfibre strap. The outer protective polyamide gaiter has a waterproof closure system with a heat-sealed zip.
