October with its mild weather was perfect for trying a great classic of the Dolomites: the SOSAT equipped trail. It is a perfect ferrata for those who want to test themselves without going too long distances, but at the same time want to enjoy breathtaking views.
The starting point of this adventure is the RifugioTuckett, but you can also walk the equipped trail in the opposite direction. From here, you enter a picturesque landscape, You face some simple metal ladders and cables and then follow the trail through a moonscape.
The ferrata itself begins with the chimney: it looks narrow, but with the help of the metal cambers you can descend into it quite easily. From here you face a series of equipped sections, steps and some traverses.
After traverses and steps, you will reach one of the most technical sections of the route: a vertical wall to climb with the help of some metal cambers until you reach an equipped ledge you are in the heart of the Dolomites.
Continue along a wide ledge with its majestic view of the Dolomites in front of you. A few more steps and cables until you reach the crossroad. From here you can choose if you want to descend to Rifugio Brentei or continue to Rifugio Alimonta.
The SOSAT is an equipped trail to be tackled with the right equipment.
Remember that times and details are approximate and may vary depending on weather conditions, experience level, and speed of progression of the individual hiker. Always make sure you are well prepared and follow safety guidelines when facing a via ferrata.
